Camping
The park contains five roadside campgrounds comprised of 577 sites. First come, first served campgrounds are Longs Peak, Aspenglen and Timber Creek. Reservations are required for Moraine Park and Glacier Basin campgrounds; call Biospherics at (800)365-2267 to make reservations. Campsites open year round include Longs Peak, Moraine Park and Timber Creek; winter fees are $6 per night. Glacier Basin offers group sites.

Backcountry Camping

There are 269 backcountry sites and zoned areas. Backcountry campers are required to have a permit year-round (violators fined). From May to mid-August, permits cost $15. Advance reservations are suggested; call (970)586-1242 or write the Backcountry Office, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, CO 80517. Permits may be obtained at park headquarters, Kawuneeche Visitor Center, and in the summer, the Longs Peak and Wild Basin ranger stations.
